Raymond Exclusive Technician Development Program
Raymond-exclusive Technician Development Program
Service technicians for The Raymond Corporation and its authorized Solutions and Support Centers are now trained through Raymond’s exclusive Technician Development Program.
GREENE, N.Y. — Service technicians for The Raymond Corporation and its authorized Solutions and Support Centers are now trained through Raymond’s exclusive Technician Development Program. This program provides technicians with practical application training that enables them to immediately work out in the field, increasing productivity and uptime for the companies whose lift truck fleets they service. Through completing the modules of this program, technicians are prepared with optimal expertise and skill to minimize customer downtime for service.
“Proper technician training begins with Raymond’s rigorous course manager training, an important component of the Technician Development Program,” says Scott Holcombe, director of training and certified course manager for Carolina Handling, LLC, in Piedmont, S.C. “Course managers are thoroughly trained to help guide technicians through the development program and are equipped with the tools to tailor training to an individual technician’s learning style. Through this process, course managers are in the best position to ensure individuals participating in the Technician Development Program learn the skills they need to perform at the highest level.”
The Raymond® Technician Development Program was designed and developed with a team of service managers and Solutions and Support Center trainers. The program includes three workshops:
- Technical Primer to focus on foundational knowledge and skills.
- Scheduled Maintenance to meet ongoing, regular maintenance procedures required for specific trucks.
- Troubleshooting and Repair to perform diagnostics and repairs. Each level uses an approach that allows participants to learn at their own pace through hands-on exercises, videos, reading and small group activities. At the end of each level, technicians must pass a test to receive certification and move on to the next level.
“The Technician Development Program gave me a better understanding of the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems on a Raymond lift truck,” says Sean Smedick, field service technician for Associated Integrated Supply Chain Solutions, Addison, Ill. “Through one-on-one and hands-on training, I am prepared to work on all of Raymond’s products, which makes troubleshooting easier and enables me to complete service calls more quickly.”
